Shades Of Grey

I have been so good for so long but in the past week I have caved. Being surrounded by all of this divine yarn all day long, I guess it was only a matter of time before I started to slide down the slippery slope of cast ons!

Two new projects on the needles, both in grey but I find that I wear a lot of black and grey these days. Otherwise I would clash with all of the colour in the shop.

Both projects are in Eki Riva Alpaca - one is the fingering weight on 4.5mm needles and the other the DK on 4.5mm needles. The drape of the Eki is amazing and just what I was hoping to achieve.

So...what did I cast on??

Sage Remedy Top by Sarah Shephed.

Whisper Cardigan by Hannah Fettig (Interweave Knits, Spring 2009

I think both projects will be perfect for our mild QLD winter.

Ok...so I might be just a little addicted!

But who could blame me!?
I finished my Tea Scarf and had to cast on another quick little crochet project...

I am totally in love with my scarf, I'm normally not a ruffles person but this just seems to work.
And the next project, nothing exciting...just a washcloth but an oh so pretty one.

I have so many projects swirling around in my head but not nearly enough time to knit them...

Planning!

One of my favourite parts of knitting is the planning of a project...

I still have two more colours to add.

Comfort Zone

I felt it was time to push myself well out of my comfort zone...knitting is like second nature to me but crochet...well that is totally another story.

It has been on my to do list since I was expecting Miss A but there has never been the time.

This week I stumbled across a scarf pattern that grabbed me instantly and I just knew that I had to start it!

With a little help translating the pattern I was off. (what is with all the different terms that mean the same thing?!?!)

And how could I go wrong with these colours and this yarn...

And finally....

We have a finished project!!!!

Pattern: Yoked Cardigan by Hannah Fetting
Yarn: Malabrigo Yarn Merino Worsted in 'Damask Rose'
Needles: US 8 / 5.0 mm
Started: May 2 2009
Finished: May 13 2009
Mods / Notes : No mods...too cute as it is!
Addition of the perfect buttons
(unfortunatley we are out of these buttons
until next week - they have been very popular).

Ahh....I miss the process so much. The selection of just the right pattern and yarn, casting on, the finishing, sewing on buttons and even the photos.

Bliss!!!

Must cast on something else very soon...

Dyeday...

Been a while since I've had a dye day!

With the girls and the store there never seems to be enough time to get the pots out...but a family friend deserves a something a little special so I dug through my undyed yarn stash and came across some pure cashmere - perfect!

The colour request was jacaranda and I think I managed to get it right.

I threw two skeins in the pot and one will become a scarf, the other will probably end up in the shop at some stage.
Hmmm...now to find the time to cast on.

While I had the pots out I couldn't resist popping in a little silk / merino. No plans for these ones as yet...

Sleep Deprivation is a good thing...?

I have a sick little one on my hands at the moment so sleep just isn't on the cards.
If I am lucky she sleeps just long enough for me to do the dinner, bath and bed thing with our biggest miss then I'm straight onto the night shift. It is just a head cold but the only way she is comfortable enough to sleep is cradled in my arms of snuggled in my lap.
Doesn't leave much time for anything productive but I have managed to cast on a little something.

And in true form I have already picked out the perfect buttons...
