Dyeday Friday!

Wow! It has been a looonng time since I have had a dye day...

After my last sock club slot at only weeks before Miss A arriving I was seriously burnt out.

Between having a newborn, an active toddler and opening the store I haven't managed to find the time to squeeze in any dyeing.

So..yesterday, I finally managed to have a little dye session. To begin with it was hard work and I was seriously afraid that I had lost my mojo but after the first colourway emerged from the pot I was hooked!

A kilo of my tight twist yarn later...

Twilight

Meadow

Seafoam

Mist

Dawn

I hope to be able to continue dyeing on a regular basis and will have my yarns available both instore and online.

Birthday Whirligig

Today is my littlest miss's 1st birthday! How could I not spoil her with this adorable little shrug...

Pattern: Whirligi Shrug by Stefanie Japel.
From Interweave Knits, Weekend 2009
Needles: Addi Click US6 / 4.0mm
Yarn: Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece in Willow Leaf

Sweet pattern, very simple and quick. I used only 86 grams of Cotton Fleece for the 12-18mth size.

Miss A is only a tiny poppet so I could have gone down a size but we should get next Autumn out of this too.
We are almost out of the special issue Interweave Knits, Weekend but have more on the way! If you do miss out we are happy to take pre-orders for thie next shipment.

I have such a soft spot for moss stitch...doesn't it just make the most adorable fabric!

Chloe

Sticking with tradition I wanted to make something for Abby’s upcoming birthday and as soon as I saw this pattern I knew it would be perfect.

I also needed some instant gratification to break up the only other project that I have on the needles just now. Two nights and I’m finished!

I appear to have a ‘thing’ with stipes at the moment. Such a glutton for punishment…almost 50 ends to weave in but then again, not the worst I’ve done!

Pattern: Chloe by Alana Dakos
in Cotton Ball,
Peridot, Provencial Rose,
Tea Rose and Robin Egg Blue.

As always one of my favourite parts of the project was selecting the buttons.

Such a sweet pattern, very well written with clear instructions. I just adore the little puffed sleeves. I have so many of Alana's patterns in my queue that I have decided that I must start stocking them in the store! We should have our first order shortly.

Abby is turning 1 this month but I upsized to the 2-4yr old as I used the Cotton Fleece and 4.5mm needles. The sizing turned out perfect!

I might just have to make a bigger one for miss Jade…

Spring Garments

The change of season means the change of garments here at Tangled Yarns!

Fresh of the needles this week we have two fantastic projects.

Hexacomb Cardigan from Interweave Knits Spring 2008. This has been a super popular magazine, so much so that we are now out of stock. I am however expecting a delivery of magazines (new and back issues) in the next week. Just in time for our Spring and Summer knitting.

We have used the divine Debbie Bliss Eco Cotton in the light grey and white.

This is such a cute cardi and is a perfect weight to throw over a light summery top on those cooler afternoons.

We also have Blouson from the new Berroco pattern booklets. One booklet in particular that has caught my eye (and added several new projects to my queue) is #285 - Linen Picnic.

Blouson uses both Berroco NaturLin and Berroco Linen Jeans, two yarns perfect for a warm Australian Summer.

This slipped stich bodice creates an almost woven look and with the square neckline Blouson will suit many body shapes.

I'm particually smitten with this project and think I may just have to create my own.
